Ysgol Y Castell is actively engaging in the Healthy Schools programme
A healthy school promotes physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equips pupils and staff with the understanding, skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health. Pupils flourish in a positive environment and are given a voice to influence whole-school decisions.
Our Healthy Tuck Shop
Our Year 6 children run our healthy tuck shop.
We are continuing our journey to gaining 'The National Quality Award' for Healthy Schools. We are working hard as a whole school across seven key health topics which include:
- Food and Fitness
- Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing
- Personal Development and Relationships
- Substance Use and Misuse
We are currently working on improving and making children aware of being physically active by introducing the new walk a mile, which is completed every day by each year group.
We are also focusing on hygiene, handwashing, tooth brushing, how germs spread, food hygiene and personal hygiene. Here are some useful websites to use at home:
